The Inventure Trust

To further the mission of The Next Challenge Limited, which is a private limited company, a new charity is being formed in the United Kingdom (The Inventure Trust) and plans are being made to follow this with a linked United States charitable foundation (The Inventure Foundation).

The Inventure Trust will be formed with the following objectives:

1. To assist persons with severe disabilities to develop their physical, mental and social capabilities through participation in sailing by:

Challenging the perceptions of such disabled persons of their own physical limitations.

Building self-esteem by participating with similarly disabled persons as a member of a sailing crew.

Learning the skills of seamanship and the use of computerised aids to navigation and sailing.

2. To promote research into and the development of environmental aids and assistive devices for persons with severe disabilities.

3. To promote sailing as a recreational sport for severely disabled persons.

4. To inform the general public of the facilities which are required by persons with severe disabilities to lead as normal a life as possible and to promote the availability of such facilities.

The Inventure Foundation will be formed in the USA with similar objectives. The two charities will work together to build a long-term future for Inventure as a training yacht. She will spend six months in UK and six months in USA ensuring all year round sailing by severely disabled people.
