Hailed as "The Most Recorded Drummer In History" this cat has laid down the beats on over 4,000 recordings to date.

His universal dancefloor anthems include "souldrums", "super bad", "whatcha see is whatcha get" amongst many others.

Purdie was the backbone for all the greats including James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, The Jackson Five, Gladys Knight, B.B.King, Miles Davis, Isaac Hayes, Quincy Jones, Roberta Flack, Percy Sledge, Nina Simone, Gato Barbieri, Steely Dan and many others.

DRUM MAGAZINE wrote, "Some players just have it.

That intangible feel and magic that really can't be taught or learned.

Bernard Purdie is one of those musicians".

On "KING OF THE BEAT" you will hear a selection of latin, Reggae, Funk, Groove, Pop, R & B, Jazz, and Country.

Some of the tracks were recorded years ago, but never released and included artists such as Dizzy Gillespie, Richard Tee, Galt MacDermot, Roy Ayers, and many others.

"King of the Beat" will show you the versatility of this legendary drummer.
