Ben Eager has played with a variety of groups and artists in and around San Diego for years. These groups have had straight ahead jazz, latin jazz, blues and top forty formats. They have included small combos and big bands.
Influences have been Barney Kessel, Joe Pass, Wes Montgomery, Larry Carlton, Lee Ritenour, Poncho Sanchez, Cubanissmo, Irakere, Tower of Power, Tito Puente and Cal Tjader among others.
The juxtaposition of the wonderful Wes sound and the classic Jobim flavors is at work here. The sound resolves with the solid bottom provided by Rob Thorsen's superb bass lines and Russ Caldwell's firm, balanced touch on conga and tumba.
The project is, itself, a resolution.
It is said that you can stand or sit in front of this trio, as it is playing, and converse and enjoy your glass of wine. The music is smooth.
Enjoy!
