New York City based AfroMantra's first CD is another proof that a new generation of musicians has taken Latin jazz into the 21st century.

They have absorbed the rich tradition of their predecessors, but they have also grown up exposed to jazz, funk and rock. The resulting music expands the harmonic, melodic and formal aspects of the genre, while preserving its rhythmic intensity.

This 10 track CD consists mostly of original compositions, written by several members of the band and arranged collectively. Afromantra has been active for two and a half years, and their journey together has been rich and meaningful. This CD is their invitation to share their experiences.
