As a vibrant extension of a lineage of soul-stirring singers, talented musicians and producers, Alana, began to exhibit her potential as early as age 3. The first-born child of Bishop Carl C. Alexander and Pastor Beverly D. Alexander, Alana quickly became known for her gifted voice and ability to captivate an audience. As she continued to grow, she was strongly influenced by her mother; her uncle, the late Keith Diamond, one of New York's top producers and songwriters of urban contemporary dance music; and her grandparents, Goldwire and Ruth McLendon. Under the guidance of her father, Alana has matured into a world class songstress and international performer. In 1995, she recorded her first release together with the McLendon Family, a contemporary gospel release, entitled "Miracles".

Alana or "Lana", as she is affectionately called, further enlarged the scope of her musical talent by making substantial inroads into the jazz community at the Manhattan School of Music where she honed her musical abilities and became their big band jazz vocalist for several years. Her credits and accomplishments include performances at the Duke Ellington Centennial, the International Association for Jazz Educators and other appearances with many seasoned artists throughout the country. She also has contributed to other recording artists with her talent as a composer and an accomplished songwriter.

Alana has a penetrating, melodious voice that is reminiscent of the jazz greats. She sings from her innermost sanctuary as evidenced in "Journey of Love", one of the songs performed on her latest musical release, a CD entitled, "I Feel Misty". She is an exuberant and engaging performer who holds nothing back when she connects with her audience. There is no doubt that her creativity, musical diversity, and inspirational style will greatly impact the recording industry. Continue to track the footsteps of this cross-cultural artist as she forges ahead to her destined foothold in the world of music.
