Atria, a Los Angeles based jazz quintet, was formed in Summer, 2000. The plan was to get together, play some standards, and see what happens - but mostly just to stretch out and have some fun. But it was clear from the start that this was something special - much more than just the sum of its parts. Each player brings a unique history of style and influnce, that work together to form an environment of creativity and exploration.

It's a jazz bag, but many other styles filter in; traditional latin styles, latin jazz, cool, modal, fusion, funk, bebop, straight ahead, etc.

In keeping with the ideals of jazz tradition, production on this CD has been kept to the bare minimum. No tricks or punch-ins, just an honest recording of original tunes. The music reaches to find and express a new voice - one of angular melodies, sophisticated rhythms, and rich, colorful harmonies.

Tony Bray - Tenor, Soprano
Jeff Fields - Trumpet, Flugelhorn
Paul Luis - Guitar
Michael Barrett - Bass
Don Palmer - Drums
