Da Duo Di Flippo De Santo (as in “da Bears”) is a dynamic Chicago-based jazz duo which features Dave Flippo on both piano and vocals and Donn De Santo on acoustic bass. Flippo’s—also a composer and lyricist—has built off the sound and approach of Mel Torme and, like Torme, acts as arranger for all the material. The eclectic program reapproaches traditional standards like Blame it On My Youth and Bye Bye Blackbird and presents new arrangements of tunes by modern writers such as Lenon/McCartney, Joni Mitchell, Abby Lincoln, Jimi Hendrix and Sting. Da Duo also knows how to have fun with songs like “If I Only Had a Brain” and “The Spiderman Theme."
