An original and compelling saxophonist/composer, BEN SCHACHTER has performed and recorded worldwide with the likes of Sam Rivers, Gary Bartz, Tim Hagans, John Zorn, Uri Caine, Jamaaladeen Tacuma, Marc Ribot, Jack Walrath, Jef Lee Johnson, Conrad Herwig, Jeff "Tain" Watts, George Garzone, and many others.
As a composer he has been recognized by grants from Pennsylvania Council on the Arts (2001) and Pew Fellowships in the Arts (1999). He was voted "Best Jazz Artist" in the Philadelphia CityPaper Music Awards (1999) and "Hottest Sax" in the Philadelphia CityPaper Editor's Choice Awards (2000).
