Al Cron Quintet
Circle's and Roots

"It is inspiring to hear one of my favorite jazz trombone players
going DEEP into improvised music, and deeper still into the horn.
Congratulations Al, to you and to this extra-musical band for
creating a challenging yet accessible work of art."

Hal Crook

"You can add Al Cron to the impressive list o great jazz trombonists nurtured in the Boston area. The recent release of two fine CDs provide ample evidence of Al Cron's imaginative, musical virtuosity."

Phil Wilson

"Al Cron is a gifted trombonist. He continues to grow with each recording, both as a soloist and writer,"

John McNeil

Al Cron's "Circles and Roots" may be unlike any music you have ever heard. The compositions, the grooves, the instrumental virtuosity, the interplay, it's all happening on this recording. Jazz fan or not, you will enjoy hearing these great players workin' on these unique and funky jazz tunes.

Al Cron is a former student of Jazz master's Hal Crook, Bob Brookmeyer, John McNeil, George Russell, and George Garzone. With the release of his second CD, "Circles and Roots", Al is taking giant steps towards getting his name and music out to the ears of the international Jazz community.

Al's professional performing resume includes The Artie Shaw Orchestra, Aretha Franklin, The Temptations, Kenny Rogers, Johnny Mathis, and others, but his passion is cutting edge improvised music.
Al has taught music at Milton High School in Milton, Massachusetts for the past ten years. In Milton he conducts a Concert Band, a Wind Ensemble, and a Jazz program. He spends his summers teaching theory, improvisation, and coaching ensembles at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA.
