Bio:
Somewhere, roaming the suburban streets of Philadelphia is an aspiring rap artist; This 19 year old rapper dreams of writing a new chapter in hip hop. His name is Asher. He was born Asher Paul Roth, and was raised in Morrisville, Pa a suburb 25 minutes outside of Philadelphia. The youngest of three children, Asher didnt start to rhyme until late in life.
"I had two older sisters and a father that loved rock music, says Asher. I was starting to get into music around the "Tevin Campbell" era. Now I know that wasnt too long ago, but my oldest sister really loved him. She had posters everywhere and I remember really getting into music around that time. I also grew up listening to Billy Joel, Dire Straits, Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye, Asher reminisces. My family never exposed me to hip hop and rap, I sort of got into myself. I guess its in my blood."
It finally hit Asher in junior high school that he had a special talent. It was at Pennsbury High School where he made a name for himself. "It all started when some kid I didn't really know challenged me to a rap battle. I wasn't even that good then; in fact I would say I was probably the worst out of the crew. I needed to gain some personal confidence. So, I was at the lunch table right, and I just tore into him. I was just being funny. I did it just to mess around and have some fun. After that, my boys and I would get together after school and just freestyle, working on expanding our minds while writing songs."
"Ever since then, I've marveled at song writing. I'm not into battling, I just do it to crack jokes and get my name out there. When you write a song you can really capture your personality. You have a chance to really get your voice heard and not just demoralize someone."
In both good ways and some bad, people are already comparing him to Eminem. "Im not Em, Ill never be Em, and Ill never replace Em. I respect him with the upmost. We would be vicious on a track together, a whole new level, Asher says strongly.
Asher is the realest dude I have ever met, states his manager Matt McGurk. I just want him to be himself at all times like he has been since I started working with him. I do not want him to change for anybody or be anyone he is not, and he won't. I respect his hunger to prove to the world that he is not just another rapper or replica of anyone else. "Im here to be me and no one else, "says Asher, "What anybody else wants to rap about, go ahead and rap about it. Yet, songs are much more interesting though when they make you think and take you somewhere else in your mind. I want to inspire people with my words. Whether its through rhyming or just simple conversation, I want people to think, thats all just think!
"He is a mastermind, a poetic genius of his own. Despite his mature lyrics and humble state of mind, Ash is still young, and is only going to get better, says McGurk. What he is doing at his age is amazing. Most rappers arent even exposed into the public eye until they are in their mid-20. That gives Asher a couple years to grow and mature. The funny thing is we feel Asher is ready to go right now and is one of the best out. I cant wait to hear him in a couple of years. One word, "Ridiculous".
Finally, this young MC has blossomed to become one in a million. Refusing to rely on rap as a job, Asher understands that it can only take you so far. "Rap is a learning process. I've grown as a person and as an artist since this all started, says Asher. The industry doesn't really care how good you are, it takes several other aspects into account. I cant guarantee that I fit that exact mold and that's why I'm staying in school. I dont want to rap forever, who does? I want this to be another stepping stone in my life. I want to look back at this and have no regrets. I want to be able to say that I did everything that I could and when the dust settles, I will still be happy. I have a lot of family, friends, and fans on my side and their support has motivated me to be the best I can be. Without their support, I probably would have never made it out the lunch room with rap." Thank You !!
