“What I’m talkin’ bout yall is Hip-Hop…” :
Ambassador Rick – Commander in Chief silently conquering the Streets…
'hip-"häp - Etymology: perhaps from 4hip + 1hop
: a subculture especially of inner-city youths whose amusements include rap music, graffiti, and break dancing; also : an element or art form prevalent within this subculture. Webster’s Online Dictionary

You can’t confine Hip-Hop in a mediocre box; it is impossible to define an art form, culture, or a movement. Yet so many attempt to. Hip-Hop could never be what someone else tells you to believe it is – it is as individual as a fingerprint; a unique and personal experience. Nonetheless, when you turn on the radio – you know it just doesn’t feel right. Hip-hop is missing a secret ingredient…

What is Hip-Hop missing? It is definitely not missing yachts, Bentley’s or Phantom’s, Cristal, big booty hos, or Ice (other wise known as bling, and for those living in the 19th century: DIAMONDS MAN!). Music is such a personal experience that the manufactured, commercialized monotony that seems to be the formula these days for short lived fortune and fame is NOT MUSIC.

May we present to you…Ambassador Rick (Ambass for short). You can’t categorize, generalize, or stereotype this artist because he possesses something that so many others in the game currently lack; the realness. Talent, hunger, unmatched stage presence, and respect for the pioneers of real Hip-Hop, make him what we have been waiting for for so long. This 25-yr-old rapper/poet has been serious about writing and performing since 1988. At the young age of 8 years old, his peers and his elders realized that he had a precious gift for painting pictures with poetry and the natural ability to play on words; the makings of a great rapper.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Ambass lived most of his adolescence in South Carolina, and grew to a musically inclined young man in Virginia.

Having lived in different regions of the US, Ambass has had the opportunity to experience different cultures and ways of living; which has had a strong influence over his sound. With a voice that blends well with East Coast, Down South and West Coast music, he is never out of character when expressing his versatility.

Ambass began rhyming during the golden ago of hip-hop, and he over stands the evolution of the new age of Hip-Hop as well. Wise before his age, he has the consciousness of an old school emcee synthesized with the confidence and hunger of a young rapper reigning over the mix tape circuit as a crowned champion.

Ambassador Rick has opened for an impressive roster of A-List performers including: Snoop Dogg, Kanye West, Nina Skyy, Young Jeezy, and Fifty Cent. This fact alone proves that his music deserves the recognition and exposure synonymous with the music industry’s most famous artists

As the front man of his crew, The Embassy, and partner in his Independent Record Company, D.I.D. Entertainment; Ambass is no stranger to the business side of the industry . In the late 1990’s he started another company, Kingz ENT Inc. Several projects were released under the Kingz ENT imprint, which had local success and sold a collective of 5,000+ units. In addition to his local success in the Virginia Beach/Hampton/Norfolk, VA area, he is one of the very few artists to have snagged a track from one of VA’s hottest and most sought after Producers, Nottz Raw; who in recent years has produced tracks for hip-hop’s elite, including: G-Unit, Dr. Dre, and Busta Rhymes.

Musically, the spotlight has been on Norfolk and Virginia Beach, VA with regards to this specific region; mainly because of acclaimed artists from that area, such as Timbaland, Missy, and Startrak (Neptunes, N.E.R.D. and Pharrell Williams) and their commercial successes. Ambassador Rick, a local legend in his own right hopes to shed some of that light on the Hampton, and Bad Newz (a.k.a. Newport News) areas of Virginia; two of the 7-cities that are frequently, and unwisely overlooked by the music industry.

The truth about Hip-hop is simple, and you can only silence the truth for so long – Hip-Hop is the struggle, the come up, and the good life wrapped in a metaphor, delivered through music. Ambassador Rick and DID Entertainment present to you their blood, sweat, tears, hopes, and dreams though their reality – their Hip-Hop. Find out what Hip-Hop is missing.
