Andrea's Bio
Andrea Wilson is affectionately called "Drea" by family and friends. Andrea is a native of Avon Park, Florida and the daughter of Robert and Wanda Wilson. Her father, an entrepreneurial spirit, worked as a building contractor,real estate investor, and owner of a renowned
night club, The Beach Front. Her mother was a public school teacher and counselor. While both parents greatly influenced their daughter's life, each had a different effect on her development. Andrea is known for her sincere passion for God and for leading a lifestyle which reflects His glory. This anointed psalmist, worship leader, teacher,
and preacher will usher you into the presence of God.
Andrea's musical journey began at age five when her mother insisted she sing at church or ...else after discerning that God gifted her young child to sing. Andrea now views this impartation of the Holy Spirit with such humility and reverence that she refers to the precious anointing as
a "gift of anointing oil within an alabaster box." She
regards these formative days as the beginning of the release of oil from her alabaster box.
Later, her parents purchased a piano for her older brother. Instead, it was Andrea who took interest and blossomed musically. Andrea became the musician for her church, Apostolic Church of Jesus. She also sang in the Youth choir, Willing Workers' choir, and the family group, The Wilson Heritage.
The spirit of God always rested upon this young woman. As a freshman at Florida State University, Andrea received the infilling of the Holy Ghost. She grew in grace and the favor of God increased while she attended Watson Temple Church of God in Christ. She developed an abiding love for God's Word. While pursuing a degree in English, she
joined several choirs with overlapping schedules. Andrea was a soloist and sang with: Florida State University's Gospel Choir, Watson Temple Collegiate Choir, and an ensemble called The Ministering Voices.
After her college graduation, Andrea returned to Avon Park and to teach at the local high school and work in her home church. Her first projects were reestablishing a youth choir and spearheading an East Coast tour to Atlanta, Washington, D.C. and New York City for the church youth. Next, this enthusiastic leader instituted a praise team.
She showed others how to develop the tender and passionate heart for God that is needed to be effective praise and worship leaders. Andrea soon served as Assistant Minister of Music for the National Choir. She has accompanied, directed, and arranged music for several community
choirs, as well as managed male and female ensembles.
Many students, who have experienced the tutelage of "Ms. Wilson," as she is called, have become musicians, singers, and ministers of music. Because of her dedication, Andrea was named Minister of Music at her local church by her then pastor, Dr. Thomas Brown, long before the term was popular or salaried.
It was not until her relocation to Atlanta in August of 2002 that Andrea began to pursue her own musical dreams more aggressively. Weeks after her arrival, she sang on Atlanta Live, and has since performed at The Gospel Heritage Workshops, which has afforded her the
privilege to sing with acclaimed artists like Yolanda Adams, Donnie McClurkin, Tonex, Walter Hawkins, André Crouch, and others. Andrea accepted the opportunity to be on Trinity Broadcasting Network with Stephen Hurd. In April 2005, Andrea released her first independent project titled, In Your Presence. This project came into fruition largely because her mother asked her to give a concert as a fund
raiser for her home church. Thus thirty plus years later, her mom is still encouraging and the oil that once dripped is now a flowing river.
With such preparation, Andrea is by no means a newcomer to ministering the Word of God through preaching, or singing Gospel, Worship, or contemporary Christian music. Each season of Andrea's life has prepared a deep foundation of spiritual maturity needed to sustain all God has given to her. For more than 20 years, this grassroots fundamentalist has been cultivating minds and hearts. Andrea describes her passion, ministering to people with wounded heart and
desires, thus, "to model, teach, and train others in the Word and works of God by demonstrating the spirit of excellence and humility." Andrea serves as Minister of Music at Divine Deliverance Christian Church. Whether she is ministering through music, the Word of God, or teaching the rules of grammar, her dedicated life and love for God
permeate every endeavor.
