When I was a kid I wanted to race motorcycles, but my mom wouldn’t let my dad buy me one because they were too dangerous. A few years later after becoming a Christian I found myself in a van with a soldier armed with a loaded weapon who was there to keep the terrorists from launching rocket grenades at our vehicles as we went around Africa singing and telling people about God. I think my mom would rather I had raced motorcycles. But I still had a blast. (So to speak).
When I was in high school a bunch of Christians came through town with a big tent and they went all over witnessing to anything that wasn’t nailed down. They went into grocery stores, gas stations and anywhere they could find someone who needed God. The whole school was talking about them. The whole town for that matter, but I just ignored it thinking I didn’t need any of that. While I was watching t.v. one night I went and got into my car and started driving. I ended up at the tent. As I went inside I saw all these people dancing and singing about God. There was sawdust on the ground and the smell of diesel in the air from their generator. As they danced around they came up to me and said “Hi brother!” I didn’t know what to make of it being as I had been raised Catholic. So I said “Hi” and started dancing with them! After that one of the guys got up and started preaching about how Jesus had a plan for my life and I needed to get saved. So I did. That’s what the song "Light The Fuse" is about.
I grew up listening to Tom Petty, Eric Clapton, and The Eagles so it seemed natural to me to try to make Christian music that was like that. This isn’t going to be like the kind of Christian music you hear on the radio and that was the idea.
Hope you enjoy it!
God Bless, B.C.
