This is our first record. Rebecka Hjukström was only 14 years old and Elin Mörk 15 years at the time. Maria Andersson was 19. She left us in 2001 and is now into jazz. So is our bass player Tobias Redborn.
They have been replaced with Sophia Hogman on mandolin, cello and "key-harp" Louise Holmer now plays up-right bass and piano in the band.
The Girls are all singing lead and harmony vocals. Inge and Tord are singing tenor and baritone.
The Avalanche CD has been reviewed as the best Country-Bluegrass done in Sweden for the last 30 years.
"Great, marvelous, superb! Yes it is. But thatis not enough! It is even better and for that I have no words" From a review in Country Corral by Anita Haglund
"The best I ever heard from Sweden" (Jan Johansson BG-musician Raleigh NC)

In Oct 2004 the Abalone Dots made a tour in USA.

The Abalone Dots has been on tour in USA playing at OIBF, IBMA and finally in Raleigh NC.
OIBF: "The Oklahoma International Bluegrass Festival"3 days

These are some of the judgements we had from our stay in USA. In our guestbook or in our road-movie.

"Of course I hold no bias, but having heard the Abalone Dots in live performance, this must be one of the most charismatic groups on the planet, not to mention the artistic level of the performers, the arrangements and the music itself. You have a fantastic sound. May you continue to enjoy success in your musical endeavors. Nashville never heard Bluegrass like this! As you say, it's oh so sooooooft. It's SOFTGRASS!"
(Elizabeth Santos, lyric-writer, OIBF)

"I am very impressed with your band sound. You all truly have a first class ensemble with a totally unique approach. A fresh and imaginative interpretation of American music processed through a complex filter of circumpolar youthfulness, vibrant cosmopolitan creativity and strong cross-cultural ties... There is even a pretty stout dosage västerbottniskt myrland in there...I am very much looking forward to the future of the Abalone Dots- I am certain great things will happen... your friend and fan Jan JOhansson in Cary, NC, USA" (Jan Johansson, . Musician)

"I have been in this business for more than thirty years, and I know perfection when it comes to harmony singing. This is it!" Admirer in Raleigh
