Aafje van Summeren is a unique vocalist hailing from the Netherlands, bringing a fresh sound to jazz. Now based in New York City van Summeren leads a trio with Steve Blanco (piano) and Adam Roberts (bass). The trio has been performing in a wide variety of musical settings including Detour jazz club, WVBR FM, The Williamsburg Jazz Festival and the prestigious World Yacht.

The trio performs originals as well as fresh arrangements of standards. Steeped in the acoustic tradition, each member brings a host of multi-faceted rhythmic, harmonic and melodic elements to the canvas, forming an innovative sound. Van Summeren feels a greater sense of freedom without drums in the ensemble. Having both been drummers Blanco and Roberts bring an extra sense of percussiveness to the group.

All three members have been part of the NYC music scene for a number of years as working professionals.
