Buzz Clifford
Buzz is a pianist from Aiken, South Carolina and should not be confused with the guitarist Buzz Clifford (also a CDBABY artist!) that is the writer of the hit song “Baby Sittin' Boogie”.
He has been playing piano since age 7, when he took lessons from the nuns at St. Angela Academy in Aiken, where his family moved from New York. His father had been an arranger for Irving Berlin and a banjo player in his big band before moving south.
He is a former member of the hit group Spiral Staircase and has been a featured performer at the Playboy Club in Chicago, and all the major Jazz and show clubs in New York. Returning home to the South, he has been a major player in the Augusta, Georgia music scene for the last several years and has recorded with the Godfather Of Soul, Mr. James Brown.
Buzz is currently involved in recording several CDs of various material and line-ups of which “Buzz For Sale” is the first.

Whenever Buzz plays in Augusta, Georgia at one of the cafes or a private party for Master’s Week that’s too small (or cheap!) for a band, he usually takes his trusty computer & Korg X3 digital workstation along to provide backing tracks to his solo piano. If you were fortunate enough to have attended one of these performances, then the music on this recording is exactly what you heard. Many people at these shows have asked Buzz, “Do you have a CD out?” Until now, the answer has been “No.”

Athens and Augusta, Georgia and the 100 miles in between contain a vast amount of talented musicians. We are a few who got tired of going down on our knees in some corporate office all the time just to make a living playing and recording music, so we all help each other. We book our own shows, do our own publicity, record in our own studio, and until we can’t keep up with CD sales anymore, design & print our own CD covers and burn our own CDs.
With Buzz, we are in the process of documenting one of the great musicians of our time and there are many more recordings of all kinds to come.
