Los Angeles-based KCRW 89.9 FM DJ Kevin Lincoln introduced Alternative R&B/trip-hop singer-songwriter Nicolle Ross to Abstrakt Reality Records CEO Zimar Manigault, a jazz instrumentalist (trumpet), producer, electronica composer in the late 1990s.
Zimar and Nicolle began recording a demo, based on a composition he had written called "Ghia". The two developed an instant musical chemistry: From there Ross developed the lyrics and melody that culminated in what would be their first release, "Freefalling", featured on Abstrakt Reality's first compilation CD (Abstrakt Sampler).
What followed was the formation of the group "Atrium" which has since garnered critical praise and comparison.
