Dr. Mystery is a guy with a mutant double-neck guitar/bass, a chain of looping devices, and an over-heated sampler. A review of a performance at the Olympia Experimental Music Festival in IMPROVIJAZZATION NATION called the music of Dr. Mystery "Very original - mysterious - this has that timeless quality." METAPHYSICAL BALLYHOO is a set of drum n' bass and ambient textures with guitar work ranging from tightly patterned rock to avant-noise. On several tracks vocal samples of infamous poiticians are intelligently used - as is an amourus invitation from a Japanese lady. If you liked Derek Baileys "Guitar, Drum N' Bass" CD you might like this; if you like sample juggling culture jammers like Negativeland or the Bran Flakes you might like this; check it out!
New Review from ROCTOBER #37 -- "lo-fi futuristic mad scientist -- bedroom music shouldn't be introspective sensitivity, it shold be about Bush taking drugs, re-imagining the Blues, and the last version of "Danny Boy" before the Apocalypse."
