On May 12, 1971, Aaron Edward Hughes was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Fortunate to have music loving parents, he was raised on a steady diet of Jim Croce,

Beatles, The Eagles, The Coasters, Elton John and lots of early rock 'n roll (from the

50's to the Rolling Stones). He was playing records on the household Hi-Fi at age 2.

This hunger for music did not go unnoticed, and at age 9 his father gave him a Spanish

guitar that he'd bought 15 years before but never learned to play. A friend down the

street showed Aaron how to read chords from a book, and so began a lifelong love

affair with the guitar.

He began writing songs immediately, performing at rural fairs in talent contests.

At 16, he wrote "Better Man", which was good enough to become the first track on his

independently released CD, "...if so equipped". Throughout high school, he was the

frontman for several bands, taking on lead vocal and lead / rhythm guitar roles, and

consistently winning each year's Battle of the Bands (after convincing the school principal

to host them)! While all these were cover bands, Aaron never stopped writing new material,

almost all of which never saw the light of day until he recorded and released a few of them

himself in 1999.

The feedback has been incredible from that CD, many people listing it as a favourite,

sending cards and sharing their emotional experience as they listened to the music. He has

prepared a demo of new songs for his next release, planned for 2005. In the meantime, he

plays as often as possible in various pubs and venues, from Bowmanville to downtown Toronto.

He continues to work with friends on other projects as well, so watch for new music coming from

more than just one direction!
