This CD is a collection of the best of Broadway's romantic duets. Broadway Lights performs all over the North East and is currently working on another full show which will debut this january at the Orpheum Theater in Foxboro Mass. Tickets are on sale at (508) 543-ARTS.
About Broadway Lights:
Ken & Sheila lived parallel lives in NYC in the late '80's, they both worked in different theater company's that performed Gilbert & Sullivan. They both lived in Queens even the same subway stop, she lived four blocks to the left he four to the right. They both worked as waiters in Times Square establishments, and both left the city in 1989 and then toured the UK with college friends. (They never met) I gets better...

They both happened to move to the same small town south of Boston and after an eight year absence from the stage, they met while performing in Man Of La Mancha, their first play since NYC. Sheila and Ken went on to star together in Carousel, as Billy Bigelow & Julie Jordan, West Side Story, as Tony and Maria, and in Bajour, as Johnny Dembo and Emily. One time during a cast party they were talking about all the similarity and Sheila was giving an account of her scariest moment in New York "when a person was shot in a movie theater". Ken turned to her and said, "not Golden Child in Times Square?" (It was,and yes,he was there too.)

It was bound to happen so somewhere along the way Broadway Lights was born with the help and dedication of pianist Mel Springer who also arranges most of their music. Mel is well know throughout Southeastern Massachusetts. He has played for so many regional performing companies and also is a published author. His book, "The Year The Red Sox Won The Series 1918", was one on the Boston Globe's best book list last year.

BROADWAY LIGHTS "Live at the Oprheum" is a recording of a benefit performance for the Orpheum Theater. It was recorded live. No tricks, you hear the performance just as it was. Below is a review of that Live Performance by Bob Guenthner that appeared on the Theater Mirror website last fall.

A REVEIW OF BROADWAY LIGHTS
"You could not call the performance I saw Friday night at the Orpheum in Foxboro, a cabaret show. It was like seeing twenty eight separate shows on stage. Each number performed by this talented duo, was, in itself a production number. To be sure, no scenery, and the props were minimal, but the acting was there.

Broadway music ranged from the dramatic All I ask of You, The Phantom of the Opera, to the light and funny Marriage Tango, from I Love You, Your Perfect, Now Change. Both Ken and Sheila have been in many stage plays. '

Ken is a handsome young man, with a great singing voice, and even greater stage presence. His solos were enough to stop the show. Sheila has a magnificent voice. She is also a voice teacher. I have seen her in numerous shows, but I do believe this one will go down as the one I like best. A blue eyed blonde beauty with a voice, a loving husband and two delightful children. Wow! Who has everything?

Mel Springer is the third member of the group. A classical as well as jazz pianist, and the co-author of the book The Year The Red Sox Won The Series.

I will be on the look out for any future engagements of this show. It was recorded the night I saw it, and may I say my check is in the mail. I want this CD so I can listen to it again, and again, and again."
