Alex Ryer first fell in love with the world of theatre through her mother, Betty Ryer, who was a professional dancer and spent her youth doing floor shows for Glenn Miller and other big bands at the renowned Edgewater Beach Hotel in Chicago. Alex began singing and dancing in junior high school and was soon performing in every show she could find time to do. Alex began a degree in musical theatre at Loretto Heights College, but soon found ample opportunities to learn through performance. After performing in every professional company in her hometown of Denver, Alex and her young family relocated to New York City. In a few months she landed her first national tour as Audrey in the First National tour of Little Shop of Horrors. Director, Howard Ashman "fell in love" with Alex, and she with him. Her next national tour afforded Alex the opportunity to work with two of her idols, Imogene Coca and Judy Kaye, in On the Twentieth Century. Alex performed several times as Lily Garland with Frank Gorshin as her co-star.
Since then, Alex has traveled the world, nationally in many regional theatre companies and internationally entertaining our soldiers in Europe and the Mediterranean. Other accolades came when Alex was a featured soloist touring China, and guest artist in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
Winner of the Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress in a Musical awards from the Denver Drama Critics, Alex just finished 14 months in the smash off Broadway hit, Menopause, the Musical. Recently, she was Meredith in the quirky Batboy, the Tour Guide in Painted Bread, the featured Guest Artist in A Grand Night For Singing with Little Theatre of the Rockies, Sadie in the Irving Berlin musical I Love A Piano with Denver Center Attractions and Miss Hannigan in Annie with Little Theatre of the Rockies.
