I wrote "The Wisdom That We Gained" in a moment of total dispair three years after returning home from a 30 month tour of duty in Vietnam. I simply could not understand how I, and so many teen age boys, could have waisted their existance on such a thankless cause.

After writing the song I kept it to myself and sang it only to help me heal and to help make sense of all the madness we endured. Thirty years later my brother, Billy who has a recording studio in Foley Alabama, found an old cassette I had made of the song and decided it was time I shared my music with the world. He laid down an incredible sound trak on a CD and prompted me to take it to a local recording studio and lay in the vocals.

Since 1998 I have performed "The Wisdom" at the Moving Vietnam Memorial Wall twice here in Maine and the song now travels throughout the U.S. and is played in conjunction with the Moving Wall visits to honor my fallen comrads and to help those who came back understand why we were there.
