Michelle Russell grew up in Southern California and always dreamed of the old days of entertainment that were romanticized in the movies - the 1890s through the 1940s.

From an early age, she performed dancing in shows, hospitals and retirement homes. Later she moved to NYC, where she often performed in cabaret.

The Moonlight Band was formed in an attempt to bring back the style of music that was both romantic, glamouous and just plain fun.

In addition to her producing/directing jobs, Michelle spent the years between 1996 and 1999 singing with entertainer/pianist/songwriter, Bennie Martini. It was during this time that Bennie wrote the song, "I Was Touched By An Angel" and presented it to her. "Touched By An Angel" became known as her song and was often requested in clubs in NYC.
