Black Tie is a collection of 10 extremely well crafted, melodic songs from this three-time Grammy nominee and co-writer Layng Martine, Jr. Exceptional string arrangements over classical guitar, and the occasional full band highlight Leigh's warm rich vocals.
"That's Where I Know You From": a beautifully melodic song about the lucky feeling of waking up with the one you just saw last night in your dreams.
"The Barter Theatre Song": a tribute to the theatre where Mr. Leigh once acted when he was a young man. The song was written in 1998 at the request of the artistic director of the theatre to commemorate The Barter Theatre at its 65th anniversary ceremony.
"The Future Of Love": in one of the prettiest songs on the CD, the singer warns that if lovers like "us" can't make it, then he worries for the very future of love itself.
"I Wonder If You Know": when situations beyond their control separate those who love. (full band and strings)
"The Greatest Man I Never Knew": nominated in 1993 for a Grammy in the Best Song category when performed by Reba McEntire. This is the poignant and all too common story of some father's inability to convey their love to their children before its too late.
"Ode To Azalie": unrequited love at its grooviest. (full band)
"Blowing The Clouds Away": a better day is coming in this song of hope and faith.
"Linda Loves Him": the singer thinks the object of Linda's affection defies all logic.
"May You Always Love Me": moon shadows are everywhere on this night the singer wishes would never end.
"I'm New At Love": we all stay a little naive and vulnerable when it comes to love.
