Crew Wanted!

Inventure has been built for two wheelchair users (1 quad. & 1 para.) and two personal assistants to sail around the world, leaving London on completion of training and when a sponsor is found.

The current plan (it may change) is for the circumnavigation to be split in to a number of legs of about 3 months duration.

Trevor will skipper the yacht the whole way around and he is looking for a different crew (ie 1 x paraplegic & 2 x assistants) to join him for each leg.

Volunteers are invited to apply.

Personal Assistant Crew Job description. The personal assistants must be able bodied. Responsibilities will include:

- Assisting the wheelchair users

- Carrying out any reasonable request connected with their daily living and management/sailing of the yacht.

- Dressing/undressing

- Showering

- Toileting (Bowel programmes & accidents, catheter care, leg bag, wound dressing)

- Management of stores (food, medication etc)

- Cooking

- Washing, cleaning, scrubbing, polishing, tidying

- Hygiene

- Watch Keeping

- First Aid & emergencies

- Maintenance & repair of all equipment (yachts & personal)

- Help with administration (paperwork, phone calls errands)

- Help with leisure activities including swimming
- Making photographic, video & written records of voyage
- Victualling, shopping, loading. Stores management

Paraplegic Crew Job Description
Responsibilities will include:

- Any reasonable task requested by the skipper connected with management & sailing of the yacht around the world
- Watchkeeping
- Systems management
- Making photographic, video & written records of voyage

Selection is entirely at the discretion of The next Challenge Ltd.

Selected applicants will be shortlisted to take part in an interview and a week sailing trial on Inventure. Once selection has been made, further training will take place before departure.

Each crew member's wage will be approximately £200 per week. The employer will be The next Challenge Ltd, a company set up to manage the circumnavigation on behalf of the sponsors, and of which Trevor Jones is the managing director.
