A mixture of jazzy rock, plaintive ballads, funky bluesy numbers and topical, thought-provoking songs. Songs like "The Preacher", "Contemplation and Meditation", and the title track, capture the listener immediately, each with a different feel and attitude. Trumpets, sax, banjo, and a variety of keyboards, compliment the standard four piece band ensemble throughout, each tastefully placed within the confines of each tune. The closing track, "Song for Kara", is a timely, heart-wrenching song of a family separated by war. A voice that won't be ignored, Mikes vocals are strong and forceful when they need to be and soft and soothing to the ear in his ballads. "I'm Happy" is an album that would fit well alongside your collection of Van Morrison, Harry Chapin and The Band's latter works. The album is soulful, rocking and lends itself to multiple listenings.
