As an infant Alexis' mom says she never cried, but only sang. As a toddler the fireplace became her stage, and a Charles Chip can, her platform. At five she started collecting music for her stereo given to her by Santa. At ten years of age, she had many songs recorded on her cassettes, hidden under her bed. Alexis would spend hours listening to her songs, playing them back as she critiqued them.
As Alexis matured she took various musical lessons but could never succeed at playing an instrument. From the time she can remember, music and words, passed through her like water from a stream. Her fondest childhood memories were of traveling by car, across the USA, to visit her Grandparents, while listening to James Taylor, Carol King, Carly Simon & Anne Murray. Unfortunately, her talents were limited with her inability to play an instrument. She continued to write lyrics and words as they arrived, but it wasn't until she was thirty-one that she was able to experience the true joy of writing music to go along with her lyrics.
For Alexis' 10 year wedding anniversary she and her husband bought a piano. After a semester of private lessons, she again failed miserably and felt hopeless. As she performed atrociously at her recital, her teacher Michael Evans became baffled. At her next lesson, Michael watched her play, and to his amazement he found that she played her treble clef measures forward and her bass clef measures backwords. Undiagnosed dyslexia had been the culprit of all of Alexis' musical strife, and Michael believed he could solve the problem. By teaching Alexis chords on the piano, she could read music easily as well as document the music she heard in her head, that coincided with the lyrics and melodies she wrote. Finally Alexis was given the dream she had wished for her entire life. The ability to put music with her words.
With encouragement from her friends and family, and that of a higher power, Alexis has brought you a debut album, full of engaging, melodic, and passionate music from her very heart and soul. Her wish for you as you listen to her album is that you too, never give up on your deepest desires.
