First A Note on the Recording

The music on this CD is a Signix Digital Mix composed by Alias Alaise pronounced Ā-LĒ-US AL-Ā-US.

The theory behind Signix is to keep the electronic mix noise of microphone sound generation as quite as possible. The possible 448 polyphonous sound sensation experienced is produced by a single non-weighted null conversion. There is no through pass spectral analysis data available, however this data never simulates the actual sensation but does establish good theoretical quantification. All bit resolution producing the mix generation is equal to or higher than then the standard 16-bit CD resolution. This is also true for the bit resolution after the mix. Signal-to-Noise and Signal-to-Distortion have been kept as low as possible by instrument selection and on this recording, by keeping the signal maximized to most of the dynamic range thus eliminating some of the granularity of the mix conversion as any microphone non sound generation mix should. Starroutes Music has been producing music since the 1962 and realizes that the best sound sensation experience can only be achieved by attending your favorite philharmonic concert hall which serves as the stimulus for this Signix recording.

S T O R Y and L Y R I C S

ACT 1
SCENE 1 Track 1
Mist and blackness within an ancient forest.
großen Bären awakens as if form birth.

LYRICS "What Place is This"
(großen Bären)
What Place is this?
What time am I in?
Is there such a thing as knowing the past?
Or am I the first?
We must be the first and only.
There is no way of knowing.

SCENE 2 Track 2
An ancient town square.
großen Bären walks to the bell which he is forming in his bell yard.

LYRICS "First Bell Makers Son"
(großen Bären)
My father invented the bell.
See it stands there in our square.
You should hear the sound.
We all do.

ACTION
The square master appraises the bell.

LYRICS "Aspire" Track 3
(Square Master)
I see you are laboring and earning your food.
This is more than most of us can do.
You are blessed your fathers son.
(großen Bären)
You see what I mean.
I am always bothered from dawn to dark.
It is nothing for me to make this bell.
I am worthless.
There is only one thing that I can do.
There are others that are happy.
They only bake the bread they grow.
(Square Master)
You have everything you need here in this square.
You will worry as I do.
But that is our way.
We work and live.
(großen Bären)
I see my work before me.
This is how my father molded the metal.
What start shall I make?

My father was great.
I shall be great also.
Perhaps there are others beyond our hills and valleys.
But we have risen from a primitive stage of cultural development.
(Square Master)
I think I understand you.
I want the best for you and our village.
If your father were alive he would tell you this.
It is time for you to be with a woman and feed your children.
Do you know that Penelope told me that she admired you?
(großen Bären)
I know nothing of women except that they are always nice to me.
I am always nice to them and secretly believe that I am a women's best.

großen Bären walks towards the door of his store as the Square Master looks on
hoping he helped.

ACT I SCENE 3 Track 4
Just before the dead of night großen Bären slowly walks within the forest.

LYRICS "Tomorrow's Light"
(großen Bären)
I hope you do not think this is my home.
But this is where I feel my best.
Wondering and knowing the same time.
I am safe and solid here.
Hoping my thoughts are the best.
I never thought of tomorrow's light so much.
Why do I feel fear when my thoughts are so pure?
I will sleep here to see what next day brings.

ACT I SCENE 4 Track 5
The dawn awakens Penelope in the garden where she escaped the night's heat.

LYRICS Penelope "This Dream Before"
(Penelope)
I had this dream before.
Again I know my end is near.
But not before I join for life.
Why must I be so sure?
I am not too good for a man
because my death is almost here.
I have always known with whom I shall
be. This morning I will tell him
since our time together is so short.

ACT I SCENE 5 Track 6
On the way to the village, großen Bären and Penelope meet on the path with a
stone fence and flowers.

LYRICS "Mine Eyes Will Look Upon You"
(großen Bären)
How was your sleep?
Was it cool in your garden?
(Penelope)
The garden was ready for me last night.
But it told me things that I can not say.
(großen Bären)
I am your friend, trust me.
What did it say?
(Penelope)
I would tell but then I can not be with you.
(großen Bären)
Perhaps you should not tell me then.
(Penelope)
Why is that goBen Baren?
(großen Bären)
Last night I thought would never end.

All night, I never felt more alone.
After you sell your bread today,
will you tell me then?
(Penelope)
Mine eyes will look upon you then großen Bären.

ACT I SCENE 5 Track 7
großen Bären and Penelope are inside the bell yard where they have lived for the past year. As always she cuts the meat hunted by großen Bären into small pieces. He asks Penelope if he may dry his hands in her long flowing hair where he hopes his children will someday be soothed.

LYRICS "I Shall Call It Love"
(großen Bären)
I am the first to feel this happy.
We together have found something only you and I know.
Although life is a struggle to keep warm and healthy,
together we will overcome all the problems the world will hand us.
I am worried about you again today.
How long will it take before
you recover from your illness?
I thought for a while your health had returned.
What are we to do?
You have made my life more wonderful
than anyone has ever dreamed.
You know I feel this way towards you.
I know you feel this way towards me.
There is no word to express this,
so I will invent a new one.
I shall call it LOVE.

ACT I SCENE 6 Track 8
großen Bären stands outside the gate of Penelope's old home.

LYRICS "Walk Towards Me"
(großen Bären)
This is where I have always stood waiting for you to appear.
So I shall continue to do so to make things as they once were.
Penelope come to the door so we can leave this place together again.
We have our own home now. Remember?
I know you are there with only one thing left to ready.
I will wait until you are done.
Then I will see you walk towards me.
... I think I see you now. ...
Penelope, where are you?
ACTION: Penelope's father appears at his doorway.
(Penelope's father)
She is dead großen Bären.
Remember she stopped breathing.
She lived a very short life.
We are all here but she is gone from us.
You must find someone else to help you now.

ACTION: großen Bären turns and starts walking toward town but stops unable to
move.
LYRICS "Take Me There" Track 9
(großen Bären)
I am left with nothing now.
Even my feet fail me
There is no place for them to take me to.
Somehow I thought she would awaken
as though from a sleep.
or perhaps a bite from an apple
would cure her illness.
I remember that.
Feet, take where I go next.
(Penelope's father)
Go to the castle and reason our Queen.
She will listen...
She is alone now too.
(großen Bären)
Your thought is like a ray
finding me in the thickest of forests.
Feet take me there
for now you have a place to go.

ACT I SCENE 7 Track 10
großen Bären stands outside the castle.

LYRICS "I Only Have this Word"
(großen Bären)
Queen it is I, großen Bären the bell maker.
Is it true that the King has not returned from his last hunting trip?
I hear he planned it to be the most exciting of all.
I think all we need to do is wait.
ACTION: He turns away and starts to walk, but stops and turns back.
My wife has died.
And I now know that she is no more.
I thought we had each other for the rest of our lives.

We were going to have children.
I even invented a word for her.
The word is 'love'.
Now she has left us.
And I only have this word.
Tell me Queen,
What is it that I can now do?

ACT 2
SCENE 1 Track 11

LYRICS " Let me defend "
(großen Bären)
The Queen has heard my plea,
Yet I have to remain inside my home with no direction form her.
(The Queen)
I waited for a time that seems forever,
and yet I remain here alone.
The bell maker has given me a word that I can use,
but I do not love him.
(großen Bären)
I have given the Queen a word to express what she once had.
I wish the word could be used todescribe what everyone has.
Oh Queen, do not use that word.
Use me instead. Let me defend what we should always have.
(The Queen)
Others must be aloud to use the word 'love'.
I will find what has happened to our hunting party,
and ask großen Bären to prevent it from happening again.

(The Queen)
You are the one großen Bären
who will discover what lies beyond our forest.
(großen Bären)
I am the one, Queen.
(The Queen)
We have always invited those
who enter our forest to join us,
and they always have.
The purpose for the kings men
was for merriment, no other.
Now they are gone
and I must know why.
(großen Bären)
I will discover what lies beyond.
I will find out why.

ACT II SCENE 3 Track (none)
After a good number of days of travel großen Bären senses men not far off in a
forest. While moving closer to see if he can find who is there, two warriors
suddenly appear. One threatens him if he does not obey and the other runs off to get a thirds attention.
NO LYRICS - Spoken: "The wrong you
made, made me do wrong"
Warrior 1:
You. You must go with me as I tell you to move. Do as I say.
großen Bären:
Why? I am only your new acquaintance.
Warrior 1:
Keep your mouth shut or I'll cut you open and make you die.
großen Bären:
There is no need for me to do as you say.
ACTION: großen Bären pushes him off to the ground.
The second warrior appears.
Warrior 2:
You can not get away. I have signaled to another about your intrusion.
großen Bären:
Where is he?
I am not an intruder!
I am alone in this forest
searching for others who are missing.
Warrior 2:
He will come after he signals others about you.
Warrior 1:
He will come and bring others too.
ACTION:
großen Bären turns to watch the third warrior approach.
großen Bären:
Why have you stopped me?
I am only searching for an answer.
Perhaps you will tell me. These others will not.
Warrior 3:
Do you not know? There are thousands of us.
We are moving our empire outward to empower our ruler
putting everyone under our jurisdiction.
Those that do not join us we kill.
Come with us so we can learn more about you.
ACTION:
groBen Barren spins around and knocks all three warriors to the ground,
then stands on their bodies.
großen Bären:
Look what you made me do.
I came looking for the answer.
I discovered not good as my father, but what went wrong instead.
The wrong you made, made me do wrong.
ACTION:
großen Bären straightens out their bodies and cries.

ACT II SCENE 4 Track 13
großen Bären is returning home to warn everyone about the atrocities he has
discovered.

LYRICS "I Hope to Make it Home"
(großen Bären)
Am I dead?
I can sense nothing.
Yet I am thinking.
I can tell I am still alive
because I believe I have thoughts.
But the thoughts I have are making me ill.
It must be, these thoughts of killing over and over again
are making me feel dead.
At first it was not too bad.
But later I had to kill and kill again.
I must had killed a hundred men and later hundreds more.
Last night I thought it would never end.
But stronger than most.
Stronger than twenty battling at once.
I knew I live to tell the Queen.
And I am still not home yet.
I hope I make it there.
I hope to make it home.

ACT II SCENE 5 Track 14
ACTION: The morning before leaving on foot to find and concur the Roman
invaders, groBen Baren convinces a large group of playful beery men from
surrounding villages that in order to be triumphant, they must remain serious.

LYRICS "Put Domination Asunder"
(großen Bären)
I thought all last night long
what a courageous force we are.
We normally have banded together
to find enjoyment in each others life.
When we leave these familiar woods and mountains.
there may be others well trained at taking our kingdom.
They believe in the use of force over us
and kill us if we do not do as they say.
I have laid to rest hundreds of this type,
but I fear others have come to take their place.

Perhaps when we return home, we will have never killed a single one of them because
of our convincing power.
Or perhaps we will have surrounded them all
and made them run to their home.
If we find an enemy insistent on killing us,
We will defeat them all
freeing everyone
of their domineering
government.
Now lets journey to put domination asunder.

ACT II SCENE 6 Track 15
For weeks großen Bären's army moved during the three hours before dawn to avoid detection and then by scouting south to watch the bread supply line discovered that the Roman encampment would grow if small bands of his men caused havoc. The night before of what ended the Roman invasion forever, großen Bären lets a Roman warrior escape to warn them of the war that will last for only one battle. Early that

morning großen Bären and his army meet on schedule and he leads them into
their fight for freedom.

Before going to war großen Bären and his army encourage themselves by explaining the advantages they have over the Roman enemy.

LYRICS "The Time Has Come"
(großen Bären)
We traveled only during the hours before dawn to avoid detection.
I scouted south and found their support.
We sent out small bands of men to cause them trouble.
We waited until all of their reinforcements were sent to discourage them from sending more later.
We let one of their warriors escape to give them a chance to retreat
but they did not.
Now when we defeat them,
it will be a war of only one battle.
I hope this one fight for freedom shall endure forever.
(großen Bären and his men)
We hope this one fight for our
freedom shall endure forever.
But if it does not, we will fight again.
We are ready now.
The time has come.

ACT II SCENE 7 Track 16
ACTION: After the victory was won on the march home, großen Bären invited the prisoners
into an evening of celebration making promises to all those who wanted
to join in the fun.

LYRICS "großen Bären"
(großen Bären)
Forget your past.
Drink the drink we make.
If you do, I will give you my discovery.
It is found in our hills where everyone profits.
It is found by acting kindly so all may act kindly.
It is found inside you as it was found inside me.
What warmth does a ruby give you?
What good is there in making pain?
Make living better, not worse.
Try to imagine what it would be like
if everyone followed only one rule.
Something I named 'love'.

(Throughout the song more and more men join in singing "großen Bären").

ACT II SCENE 8 Track 17

"Finality in Remembrances"
A Chorus explains this ending in song and enactment.

Many years passed while großen Bären and the surrounding towns waited for more threats from the would be conquerors, however none ever came.
Thoroughout his years großen Bären visted with the remaining prisoners, never-the-less, some of the prisoners had to be locked up for life.

The true story of großen Bären is forgotten now,
but
this was großen Bären's wish
because he knew he would be remembered for war and not for love.
He asked to be burred aside Penelope
on the south side of his favorite green hill
with no marker so
he would
be forgotten forever.

The queen
died leaving no heir to her thrown and Großen Bären was appointed King.

großen Bären worried that he would leave no heir to the thrown as well and he was lured by a young temptress.

Realizing
that passion was no match for love he waited the rest of his life to die, but asked to kiss this girl before his death.
He died when their lips touched.

Finality in Remembrances
For many years, everyone walked to his unmarked grave and told this story over and over again.

There were other wars fought, but großen Bären's spirit still returns to this day explaining that love is better than war.
