Blue and Violet highlights the performing and composing talents of New York City pianist Jess Jurkovic and bassist Pedro Giraudo. Their love for jazz and improvisation mixes with such diverse elements as Western art ("Classical") music-as in the title piece-and South American folk music-as in "Buenos Noches." The CD includes liner notes by Jurkovic, and features artwork, by Joseph Brudlos, inspired by each of the ten tracks. The intimate nature of a duo setting allows Blue and Violet to aurally satisfy, through focused listening or as background music.
