Freeman founded seminal Austin RnB outfit Paul Ray and the Cobras - one of a handful of bands (Fabulous Thunderbirds) that created an unparalleled era in the Austin music scene and also helped launch the career of fellow Cobra Stevie Ray Vaughan.
