Machine Kills is pure rock music. Thirteen tracks that start out running and don’t stop. The most striped down of all of Ashley's albums, Machine Kills boast only guitar, drums and voice. The album starts with "She Rocks," a melodically up-tempo, and lyrically remorseful song. "Make Love Sounds" is sultry and sensual, while "Don’t Get Mean" struts with the determination of telling the listener, "Don’t get snappy baby, don’t get mean, I’ll make you love me baby, I will make you sing."
