Blue Collar Way began when Bill Brader moved to Morro Bay, a sleepy little fishing community on the central coast of California.
He had a guitar, a notebook full of songs, and a burning desire to share them with the world.
He put together a group of local musicians and arranged for studio time on one weekend of each month.
They would all get together at the studio, listen to Bill strum that days song on his old guitar and join in.
After one or two practice runs...it went onto tape.
After 7 months the album was completed.
It was selected as one of the top 3 albums released in 2001 by Ticket Magazine and is currently getting air time on KOTR-FM and KCBX-FM.
With guitar, harmonica, and keyboards taking turns out front, this album never gets stale.
Because there are four different vocalists, the songs reflect several blues styles...Chicago style, back porch, ballad, and rock'n blues.
Valorie Johnson has toured with Big Brother And the Holding Company because of her powerful voice and uncanny ability to bring Janis Joplin's tunes to life.
Then there are Bill's own "back porch-ribs n' grits" stylings which lend that southern flavor.
Rock'n blues are served up by Steve Philip who doubles on the bass guitar.
In between harp licks, Alan Whitsett's smooth voice will soothe you and ease your weary bones. Alan has recently appeared with David "Honeyboy" Edwards , Louisiana Red, and with Doug MacLeod at the Cafe Boogaloo in Hermosa Beach and Cozy's in Sherman Oaks, California.
All this complimented by an all-star cast including:Jon Dittman, drums;Ed Frawley, guitars;Tom Armistead, keyboards;David Corona, slide guitars.
