Inventure update
Update 17 July 2002
I've
just returned home following three weeks in Stoke Mandeville
Hospital, where a baclofen pump was fitted. It is an internal
battery opperated pump, computer & reservoir measuring 3 ins
in diameter 1 inch deep inserted adjacent to my belly button.
The
idea is it will deliver a minute amount of the drug direct
to the spinal column removing the need for the tablets which
Ive been taking for 14 years.
It's a bloody miracle, following almost three years dodgy
health and over a year where i've been largely stuck to my
bed with chronic fatigue, I now have more energy that I know
what to do with.
Am back at my computer, can watch TV for more than 30 mins,
rekon will soon be driving and even taking exercise. As for
Inventure, she is still in Cowes, the plan remains to sell
her to the Inventure Trust for the general use of disabled
people. Charity Status has been applied for and we are really
waiting for that before much more progress can be made. In
the meantime work continues and I am looking forward to getting
down to supervise.
